The inch worm is actually the third robot in my preoccupation with alternative locomotion systems for autonomous robots. The catbot, with its limping sad dragging was first. The second was the stepping robot. Alas, that robot never saw completion because it was beyond my skills and had several design flaws.
The robot works by alternately locking and unlocking opposing sets of wheel while extending and shortening. I haven't decided on a brain yet, I'm hoping to make it simpler and more mechanical because I'm tired of writing code.
