This is a gift I made for a friend. The top piece is stainless plate, plasma cut apart by hand, and then rewelded in the same shape with silicon bronze to give the seams a nice color. It was then wire brushed to burnish it. The bendy part is solid that I bent with a forge. It was finished by flap wheeling and then steel wool (I learned on this piece that a flap wheel on a die grinder can leave lots of sharp edges and quickly ruin your thumb). I think I coated it with polyurethane, or linseed oil, or maybe varnish?
